The final game of the 2023 Rugby World Cup quarterfinals sets up to be one of the matches of the year as host France, the No. 2-ranked team in the world, and winner of Pool A, faces the No. 3-ranked team in the world, South Africa.

South Africa, the defending RWC champions who is tied with New Zealand for the most World Cup championships with three, lost to No. 1-ranked Ireland in pool play. That loss sent the Springboks to a quarterfinal matchup against France.

France, with a win over New Zealand on their ledger already in the 2023 RWC, is seeking its first-ever RWC championship. 

This is the final match of four in the 2023 RWC quarterfinals across Oct. 14-15 in France. The winners will advance to the semifinals the following weekend. The loser will be eliminated.
