Munster Rugby recently announced the retention of three crucial players - Jean Kleyn, John Hodnett and Liam Coombes, who have committed their futures to the Irish province through contract extensions. 

Kleyn, a South African native, initiated his professional rugby journey with Western Province and the Stormers in 2014, before making the move to Munster in 2016. 

The 30-year-old lock has been an integral part of the team, earning the prestigious title of Munster Men's Player of the Year for the 2022-2023 season. 

Kleyn boasts an impressive record with 137 appearances for the club, contributing significantly to the team's success. 

Notably, he played a key role in Munster's United Rugby Championship title triumph last season, starting 24 games, including an impressive streak of 19 consecutive starts. 

Despite initially making his international test debut with Ireland in 2019, Kleyn switched allegiance to South Africa and was part of the squad that clinched the World Cup in the recently concluded campaign in France.

We can also confirm that RG Snyman will depart for a new playing opportunity on completion of his contract at the end of the season.

Hodnett, who made his debut for Munster in 2020 after graduating from the academy, also has committed to the club with a two-year contract extension. 

The versatile player has featured in 45 games, including 20 appearances in the previous season, showcasing his growing influence on the team. 

Coombes, a product of the Munster academy since the 2017-2018 season, has signed a one-year contract extension. 

Coombes made his full senior debut for Munster in the 2018-2019 season clash against the Cheetahs. 

Known for his versatility, Coombes can play on the wing and in the center, accumulating six tries in his 19 Munster appearances since his debut. He also has represented the Ireland Under 20 side in the past. 

As Munster positions itself in eighth place in the United Rugby Championship table, these contract extensions serve as a testament to the club's commitment to maintaining a strong and consistent squad. 

With Kleyn, Hodnett, and Coombes committing their futures to the province, Munster looks poised for continued success in the fiercely competitive rugby landscape.
