The Investec Champions Cup begins Dec. 8 across Europe and South Africa as 24 of some of the best rugby clubs in the world compete for the European championship. 

Established in 1995, the Champions Cup has crowned champions for almost 30 years and this year features clubs from Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland, France and South Africa. The tournament includes teams from the United Rugby Championship, Top 14 and Gallagher Premiership.

The goal is to reach London’s Tottenham HotSpur Stadium in late May, where the Champions Cup Final will be played. 

But to get there, teams must manage through a 16-team playoff that follows four rounds of pool play.

2024 Investec Champions Cup Rugby Pool 2 Outlook

Pool 2 features a star-studded group of players. 

From Toulouse's Antoine DuPont to a pair of South African Internationals in Steven Kitshoff (Ulster) and Siya Kolisi (Racing 92), Pool 2 has no shortage of talent. 

Toulouse is the headliner of the group as the defending Top 14 champions and is one of the best European professional clubs of all-time. Toulouse won the Champions Cup in 2021 and have one five times since 1996 with two more runner-up finishes. 

This pool also features Cardiff Rugby, which wouldn't have qualified for the Champions Cup under the new qualification system going into effect for next year's tournament. Cardiff finished outside the top eight of the United Rugby Championship in 2023, but won the Welsh shield, which put them in the 2023-2024 Champions Cup.
