A former South African Schools international, Taylor has been playing Currie Cup rugby for Western Province, scoring four tries in six starts.
“Jarrod is a player who has impressed us with his performances in the Currie Cup and has an outstanding pedigree in South African schools' rugby," Scarlets head coach Dwayne Peel said. “He is an abrasive player, with and without the ball, and is strong in the contact area. He will add to the young group of backrowers we already have at the club.”
Taylor will bring an added physical edge to an already powerful Scarlets back row and will likely replace Vaea Fifita, who reportedly is set to make a move to the French Top 14 with Montpellier, per a report in Rugbypass.
