The first round of the Investec Champions Cup playoffs will feel like a Gallagher Premiership showdown as the Exeter Chiefs host Finn Russell and Bath Rugby. 

The two clubs are current No. 2 (Bath Rugby) and No. 4 in the Gallagher Premiership this season. Bath Rugby, surging after its offseason signing of Scottish superstar Russell is 8-0-5 in Premiership play. 

Meanwhile, Exeter, who reached the Champions Cup Semifinals in 2023 before losing to eventual champion La Rochelle, has a matching 8-0-5 record but trail Bath in points, 42-40 in Premiership play.

The Exeter Chiefs finished second in Pool 3 behind Northampton with a 3-0-1 record. That led to the No. 8 seed. They beat Glasgow Warriors, 2023 URC Champions Munster Rugby and RC Toulon. They lost to Aviron Bayonnais in Round 4. 

Bath Rugby finished third in Pool 2 behind Toulouse and Harlequin F.C. They went 3-0-1 with wns over Ulster Rugby, Cardiff Rugby and Russell's former team, Racing 92. They lost to French power Toulouse in Round 4. They enter the field as the No. 9 seed.
