A new chapter in one of the great rivalries is set to begin as Argentina hosts France in a two-match series.

The first match took place in Mendoza, marking 75 years since competition between the two nations began in 1949.

Despite missing a slew of veterans and fielding a young and inexperienced team, France was triumphant against Los Pumas, winning 28-13.

Many of the youngsters contributed to the win, including 19-year-old Theo Attissogbe, who scored a try for the visiting team.

Read the updates and scores as they happened below:

It ends up being a fantastic win for a young and inexperienced French squad.

Argentina Reacts Immediately With Quick Score; 28-13

Los Pumas found the French standing and scored their second try of the game.

Matias Orlando lands on the ball for an impressive try for Argentina.

Melvyn Jaminet Kicks Penalty; France 28-8

Argentina is doing its best to get another try to close the gap on France.

Another Youngster Scores Try For France; 25-8

Theo Attissogbe, who's 19 years old, scores the third try of the day for France.

Attisogbe is one of many younger players picked for France's summer international squad, showing the depth of the French program.

Hastoy misses the conversion.

Closer Look At Montoya Try

Argentina Scores First Try; 20-8

Julian Montoya pushes it through to keep Los Pumas within striking distance.

Antoine Hastoy Penalty Score; 20-3

Hastoy puts the French ahead 20-3, and this looks to be getting out of hand for Los Pumas.

The crowd has gotten almost completely silent.

The Other Other Antoine Scores Try; France Up 17-3

  • Antoine Hastoy started things off for France with the first try.
  • Antoine Dupont is not in the building.
  • But it's Antoine Frisch(!) who scores the second try of the day for France.

France Drives, Nearly Scores Second Try

The big man, Georges-Henri Colombe, is unlucky. He loses control of the ball just before completing the try.

Second Half Begins

France will look to hold on to its seven-point lead. There's no doubt Argentina will look to press in the second half of this test match.

Closer Look At Serin Try

Halftime In Mendoza; France 10, Argentina 3

Halftime came quickly, as both teams battled with possession.

France comes out ahead during the break.

Baptiste Serin Scores Try For France; 10-3

Serin kicks it along and then gets his legs taken out before grabbing hold of the ball to complete the try.

France breaks through with some impressive play.

Hastoy makes the conversion.

Measured Battle Between Argentina And France; 3-3

No single team has shown itself superior in this game, yet.

That's probably a win for France, considering the team's substantially younger roster.

Los Pumas' Carreras Penalty Score; 3-3

Santiago Carreras converts the penalty score, and we're back level.

France Penalty Score; 3-0

Antoine Hastoy puts it through the posts, and France goes up 3-0 against Argentina. The home crowd seems a bit deflated.

France On The Front Foot

The French have pinned the Argentinean players in their end and look to be making strides toward the first score of the game.

France Pregame Hype video

France posted its own hype video, though it's quite a bit less raucous than the Argentine version.

France 0, Argentina 0

The teams seem to be feeling each other out early in this match. No score as of yet in the 14th minute of play.

France Fields Three Youngsters

Three young French players are starting today.

Oscar Jegou (21) from La Rochelle, Jordan Joseph (23) from Racing 92, and Hugo Auradou (20) from Section Paloise were all named starters.

No Antoine Dupont Today For France

If you didn't already know, the great Dupont will be focused on Rugby Sevens at the Paris Olympics and will miss out on the summer internationals.
