Scotland Rugby continued its romp through North America, this time handing the United States a 42-7 loss at Audi Field in Washington D.C., on July 12. 

A week after demolishing Canada in Ottawa 73-12, the Scots led 21-0 just 33 minutes into their recent match and didn't let a USA try in the final 10 minutes of the first derail them. 

Scotland, the No. 6-ranked team in the world, which fielded three of Philip Bendon's top 100 rugby players in the world, never looked back after Duhan van der Merwe moved one try away from passing Stuart Hogg's national record for most tries in an international test match. Van der Merwe scored in the sixth minute. 

Meanwhile, Ewan Ashman scored three tries, including two in the first half.

USA Rugby scored in the 33rd minute when Tommaso Boni scored and A.J. MacGinty added a conversion.

George Horne scored the fifth try of the match for Scotland in the 50th minute, and Adam Hastings converted the kick.

Duhan van der Merwe is one try away from breaking the Scottish record for most tries ever. In the 47th minute, Scotland is up 28-7.

A.J. MacGinty missed a penalty kick in the 17th minute, and two minutes later, Ewan Ashman scored a try. Adam Hastings converted.

In the sixth minute, Duhan van der Merwe, the 92nd best player in the world, scored the first try of the match, and Adam Hastings converted. This is van der Merwe's 27th try of his international career.

Six years ago in Houston, the United States shocked Scotland 30-29. It was the first victory over a Tier 1 senior international side since beating France at the 1924 Summer Olympics.

Sione Tuipulotu (No. 65), Rory Darge (No. 83) and Duhan van der Merwe (No. 92) all are in the starting lineup for Scotland.
