Springboks Overpower Wallabies In Brisbane For Dominant Opening-Round Win
South Africa defeated Australia 33-7 in Round 1 of the 2024 Rugby Championship at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane for its first win there since 2013.
The Springboks kicked off their 2024 Rugby Championship campaign with a commanding 33-7 victory over Australia in Brisbane on Saturday.
The world champions dominated from start to finish, crossing the try line five times to secure a bonus-point win, leading 21-0 at halftime.

This triumph marked South Africa's first victory in Brisbane since 2013 and ended a four-game losing streak in the city.
The Wallabies were overwhelmed, particularly at scrum time, and struggled to match the Springboks' intensity across the field.
South Africa's tries came from captain Siya Kolisi, Pieter-Steph du Toit, Kurt-Lee Arendse (twice) and Kwagga Smith.
Australia managed a consolation try through Hunter Paisami, but that came late in the game when South Africa had two players, Malcolm Marx and Marco van Staden, in the sin-bin.
Despite the lopsided score, the margin could have been even larger had the Springboks been more clinical in their finishing.
