Heading into their next clash against New Zealand in Cape Town, the Springboks sit atop the Rugby Championship standings with 14 points from three tests, while the All Blacks trail with six points. Argentina and Australia follow with five and four points, respectively.
Feinberg-Mngomezulu emphasized that the Springboks are determined to avoid the mistakes of their July series against Ireland, where they lost the second test.
Reflecting on their recent wins in Australia, he noted the team’s focus on remaining driven and unified.
“We don’t want a repeat of what happened against Ireland,” Feinberg-Mngomezulu said. “If we can stay hungry and determined, we’ll move one step closer to winning The Rugby Championship.”
Williams echoed these thoughts, stressing the importance of consistency. The Sharks scrumhalf, who scored the match-winning try at Ellis Park, affirmed the team’s commitment to staying grounded despite their strong start to the tournament.
“We’re pleased with our progress but won’t take our foot off the gas,” Williams said. “Next week’s match will be just as tough, if not tougher.”
Both players reflected on the intensity of their recent victory over the All Blacks.
Feinberg-Mngomezulu, who contributed 16 points in the match, praised the team’s preparation and the support from the crowd, while Williams expressed satisfaction in the team’s ability to rally from a 27-17 deficit.
“Sticking together during tough times made the victory special,” Williams concluded. “It felt great to turn the tables after last year’s loss in New Zealand.”
