The 2024 Bledisloe Cup finishes at 3 a.m. ET on Sept. 28 at Sky Stadium in Wellington, New Zealand as the All Blacks try to continue their run of success against one of their oldest rivals. 

For Australia, a win will mean they finish the season with as many wins as New Zealand in The Rugby Championship after a somewhat disastrous summer season for the squad.

But the Bledisloe Cup is more than just table placement for the Rugby Championship. It’s for bragging rights in the Southern Hemisphere among the Pacific countries.

Although they’ve only played once so far, the All Blacks have already secured the Bledisloe Cup this season. The teams used to play three times a year but due to schedule restrictions, the nations only play twice a year. That means that Australia will not be able to win the Bledisloe Cup this year because they lost the first match. 

When Was The First All Blacks vs. Australia Rugby Match

The first match was in 1903 in Sydney, Australia and it was New Zealand taking the win 22-3. The first Australia win came in 1910, also in Sydney. 

How Many Times Have The All Blacks Beaten Australia Rugby?

All Blacks have dominated the rivalry. In 177 matches, the All Blacks are 124-8-45 against the Wallabies. 

What’s The Longest Bledisloe Cup Winning Streak?

From 1968 to 1978, New Zealand beat Australia 10 straight times. Australia snapped the losing streak in the Bledisloe Cup on Sept. 9, 1978 with a 30-16 win in Auckland. New Zealand can get closer to matching that number in 2024 with one more win that would put the current winning streak at nine matches.

The All Blacks have scored 3,959 points, while Australia has managed 2,591. 

When Was The Last Time Australia Rugby Beat New Zealand?
