All Blacks Beat Wallabies After Scott Robertson's Big Gamble

The Bledisloe Cup finale in New Zealand closed out the Rugby Championship for New Zealand and Australia Rugby. Here's a recap.

After a too-close-for-comfort win on Sept. 21 against rival Australia, the New Zealand All Blacks took control of the match late in the first half and never looked back, beating the Wallabies 33-13 on Sept. 28 in SKY Stadium in Wellington, New Zealand.

There were a lot of demons exercised for the All Blacks.

For the first time since 2018, the All Blacks won a match at the biggest stadium in the capital city, SKY Stadium.

For the first time this season, the All Blacks scored points in the final 20 minutes of a match.

And for the first time in the Rugby Championship, the All Blacks completed a sweep of an opponent.

Having already secured the Bledisloe Cup with its win in Round 5, and having already been locked into third-place in the Rugby Championship, New Zealand looked impressive after the first 30 minutes against Australia.

The first 30 minutes, though, looked like it would be a special night for Australia, which played some of its best rugby of the summer in the first two quarters of the match.

The match swung in the final minutes of the first half.

Given the option just before halftime to take a penalty kick or set up a lineout for a try, All Blacks coach Scott Robertson opted to gamble, and it paid off.

The All Blacks scored a try in the 41st minute of the first half to take a 19-13 lead and from there they rolled in the final test match in New Zealand for the All Blacks.

Relive the match below and watch the replay of the match on FloRugby and the FloSports app.
