Reigning Rugby World Cup Champions South Africa added another title to the trophy cabinet, prevailing over Argentina 48 – 7 to secure the 2024 Rugby Championship.

Racing into a commanding first-half lead through tries from Aphelele Fassi (2), Pieter-Steph Du Toit and Cheslin Kolbe, the Springboks never appeared troubled by Los Pumas.

Scoring a single try through flyhalf Tomás Albornoz, Los Pumas appeared shell-shocked by the Springbok's physicality just a week on from beating the same opponents. Mirroring their campaign to date, where they have been unable to back up performances, Felipe Contepomi’s side confirmed they still have some way to go to become title contenders.

The Springboks' ability to squeeze the life out of Los Pumas was mightily impressive, as was their new-look wide attacking game.

Catching the eye from an individual standpoint, flyhalf Manie Libbok appeared free from the immense pressure he was under, with his halfback partner Jaden Hendrikse taking on the goal-kicking duties.

This freedom saw Libbok have a truly dominant performance, as he directed his team masterfully in both attack and defence.

Elsewhere, the back three of Cheslin Kolbe, Kurt-Lee Arendse, and Aphelele Fassi shredded Los Pumas on the flanks, while Pieter-Steph Du Toit led the charge in the pack with a huge showing.

Flexing their muscles in the second half, the Springboks took Los Pumas through the phases, and although it took some time, they eventually exploded into action.

Scoring tries through Malcolm Marx, Pieter-Steph Du Toit and Jesse Kriel in the final ten minutes, Rassie Erasmus’s side put some gloss on their crowing performance of the campaign.
