The first match of this year's 1872 Cup will pit the Glasgow Warriors against Edinburgh in Round 8 of the United Rugby Championship. Here's what to know.
Edinburgh Rugby will trek west to take on its bitter rivals, the Glasgow Warriors, in a festive Scottish derby during Round 8 of the United Rugby Championship.
The match also will serve as the first half of the 1872 Cup, which is contested each year between the clubs.
Glasgow has won the last two cups, with Edinburgh not having owned the trophy since 2022.

Last season, Glasgow and Edinburgh met twice during the holiday season, on Dec. 23 and Dec. 30, with the Warriors taking the first match, and Edinburgh taking the second.
The Warriors went on to win the URC Grand Final, taking home that hardware as well.
