The 23-year-old, who qualifies for Ireland through his grandparents, previously played alongside Tom Ahern and Jack Crowley for the Ireland U20s in 2020. The trio helped Ireland secure the Triple Crown before the competition was suspended due to the pandemic.
Born in Manchester, Kelly joined the Sale Sharks Academy in 2017 at the age of 16 and later earned a scholarship to Loughborough University, where he played in the National League.
After impressing with the Ireland U20s as an 18-year-old, he signed with Leicester Tigers in 2020 and made his Premiership debut against Gloucester at 19.
Kelly quickly established himself as a key figure in Leicester’s squad, scoring two tries in 17 appearances during the 2020-2021 season and featuring in the Challenge Cup final.
He earned his sole England cap against Canada in 2021 and played a crucial role in Leicester’s 2022 Premiership-winning campaign, making 23 appearances that season.
Over the past two seasons, Kelly has maintained strong form, recording six tries in 38 games. He was included in England’s squad for the 2023 Six Nations but was sidelined due to injury. This season, he has scored one try in seven appearances for Leicester.
Capable of playing both inside and outside center, Kelly has made 88 appearances for Leicester since his debut, scoring 10 tries. His signing adds further depth to Munster’s midfield as the province looks ahead to future campaigns.
