Len Ikitau Re-Signs With Brumbies, Wallabies Through 2027 With UK Stint

Wallabies and Brumbies star Len Ikitau has committed his future to Australian rugby, signing a new deal with Rugby Australia and the ACT Brumbies through the end of the 2027 season, the governing body confirmed Wednesday.

As part of the agreement, Ikitau will take a short-term sabbatical with English Premiership club the Exeter Chiefs, following the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season, before returning to Australia ahead of the 2026 international campaign.

Ikitau, 25, has been a standout performer for both club and country, cementing his status as one of the world’s premier centers.

Since making his Super Rugby debut for the Brumbies in 2019, he has earned 39 caps for the Wallabies after debuting in 2021 against France.

“I’m really happy to have my future sorted, and I can now put my full focus into performing well for the Brumbies and hopefully the Wallabies later this year,” Ikitau said. “My family and I are looking forward to a unique life experience in the UK with Exeter, and it’s reassuring to know we’ll be coming back home to Canberra.”

Rugby Australia’s Head of High Performance, Peter Horne, hailed Ikitau’s decision to remain in the national fold, despite strong overseas interest.

“Len has evolved into an important member of the Wallabies and Brumbies, and we are thrilled he has recommitted to Australian Rugby,” Horne said. “He made clear his desire to be a long-term Wallaby and is excited to represent his country at a home Rugby World Cup in 2027.”

Brumbies head coach Stephen Larkham praised Ikitau’s contributions and leadership, calling him “a world-class center” and “the best defender in his position across the globe.”

“He’s having another terrific season so far, after making a great impact for the Wallabies on their Spring tour,” Larkham said. “We wish him the best in England next season and will be looking forward to his return here in 2027.”

Ikitau’s flexible new contract aligns with RA’s broader strategy to retain top talent, while allowing for development abroad.

The Wallabies are eyeing a resurgence ahead of the 2027 Rugby World Cup on home soil, with Ikitau expected to play a key role.
