Pollock scored a try out of the gates in the second half with game against Union Bordeaux Begles tied at 20 after an intense first half, but the try was taken off the board when referee Nika Amashukeli reviewed the try and ruled the play a no-try.
Moments later, Amashukeli gave Northampton's Ed Prowse a yellow card that led to a Maxime Luca penalty kick.
Henry Pollock Was Seeking First Investec Champions Cup Final Try
The 20-year-old Pollock is among the rising stars in the game and has jumped on the scene during the Champions Cup. He has scored seven tries in Champions Cup play and forced 18 turnovers.
“I can envision him being another Ardie Savea-style player, a do-it-all player who can play in the backs and the forwards and cover every sort of spot,” FloRugby analayst Philip Bendon said. “He’s definitely going to be the future of English rugby.”
Pollock’s leadership, even as a young player, has been notable, and Bendon believes he could even be the captain of England within five years.
“I suspect he’ll be England captain within five years - he’s a leader, and he already shows it in how he leads at Northampton,” Bendon said. “It’s huge for a young guy to have that respect in the dressing room.”
