Italian scrumhalf Edoardo Gori is the only member of the Azzurri lineup with more than 50 caps, and he will captain the team. Scotland's captain is flanker John Barclay, who has 60 caps, and the most-capped Scottish player in the lineup is hooker Ross Ford, who has played 107 times for his country.
For Scotland, head coach Gregor Townsend, who was a star flyhalf for Scotland and the British and Irish Lions in the late 1990s, has a young side as well and one that's not used to the heat and humidity of Singapore in June.
"It is a challenge," Townsend told the BBC, adding that the jet lag might have been more of an issue at first. "But it's also a challenge for Italy. We may not be able to see the [fast] rugby that we've been delivering at training, but we've got to find a way to be better than Italy on the weekend."
Townsend, who was a running flyhalf when he was a player, said he wants to play at a high pace against a big, physical Italy side.
Italy has a reputation for putting something new on the rugby field -- witness the way they flummoxed eventual Six Nations champion England in late February by not contesting rucks (and therefore eliminating the offside line).
