Late Changes As HS Single-School Rankings Finish Season
The final rankings for boys single-school high school rugby programs bring a little bit of a surprise as some late results put two teams back in the top 50 and moved another close to the top 10.

Former No. 1-ranked St. Ignatius was bumped down to the 20s some weeks ago after it lost to Cardinal Moeller out of Cincinnati. There are times when a coach will send us some reasons (some less charitable observers would call them excuses) for a loss. Not so for Ignatius head coach Dan Arbeznik, who took the loss on the chin and moved on to the next game.

The Saints rebounded to win the Ohio championship, beating St. Edward in the process. St. Edward had already beaten Moeller, and it seemed right to think of the Moeller win over Ignatius as a bit of an anomaly.

Kahuku moves up one more spot, as the Raiders went 4-0 in New Zealand, capping off an unbeaten season in which they won Hawaii and the Pacific Cup. Coming into the top 50, Bishop Hendricken won the Massachusetts club season (it plays as a single school, but since it is based in Rhode Island, it can't play in the new Massachusetts varsity league anymore). BC High swept the field to win that MIAA title in the Bay State. Neuqua won Illinois and moved up.

Finally, Simsbury upended Fairfield Prep to make the Connecticut final and then pushed a very good Greenwich team in that championship game. That effort was worth getting in the top 50.
