D1 College Games: Our Picks And The Best Games

This week in D1 college rugby, the SIRC starts conference play, so we've got another conference to worry about.

And that conference usually has some bad weather to worry about ... which is possibly the case this weekend as we're still in hurricane season.

However, last week once again we got some upsets last week, but did fairly well. We ran the spreads on 35 games. Two we said we "pick 'ems" when they turned out not to be, so we were wrong there. In three we were dead wrong, the most obvious being Colorado State v Utah (Utah won). But we were right on the winner in 30 out of 35.

As for the score differential? We got one game exactly right (Brown v Princeton), and we were close in about half the games. Normally, we ended up being too conservative in possible blowouts.

Well, this week, let's see:

Military Might

The first of the series of games among the three military academies sees Air Force at Navy. The teams in this Commander-in-Chief Trophy don't really travel well, so we're going with Navy in this one, despite the chance that the midshipmen might be undercooked having not really played.

Big Two In Big 10

Ohio State is at Wisconsin, and this is a huge game in terms of deciding who could finish 2nd. And it's a big one for Wisconsin in that the Badgers will play Michigan State later this fall, and that game could have playoff implications.

Give Me More Liberty

One more team stands as the challenger to the might of Iona, and it's Delaware. The Blue Hens are a shade young and will really have to front up against a physical Iona team that scored 60-plus like clockwork.

No NDC? No AIC?

Those guys play October 12. That's going to be one to watch.

SIRC Early Clash

All of the SIRC South teams are pretty close, and Central Florida v Florida International will continue to be a clash of styles (think rhino v antelope). That game won't decide anything, but it could get us started making predictions.

On the Ohio-Kentucky Border

Cincinnati is 1-0 in division play in the MAC, and Louisville is 2-0. They play each other in a game that should decide who wins the MAC South.
