Samurai PRP Player Of The Week: Tai Tuisamoa, OMBAC
Tai Tuisamoa is all about the team, but the OMBAC player-coach is our player of the week also.
Is it too easy to say Tai Tuisamoa should be FloRugby’s Samurai Player of the Week for the Pacific Rugby Premiership?
Tuisamoa, after all, is the player-coach of the only 3-0 team in the league, OMBAC. He’s the all-imposing second row for the San Diego club who can slot in at blindside flank or at No. 8. And he scored three tries in a 54-27 win over previously 2-0 Belmont Shore this past Saturday.
What more could you want?
Tuisamoa sets the tone, and it's from his platform as a winner and preserver of possession that OMBAC was able to move forward and score. However, the player-coach seemed to think everyone else should take the credit.
"Our preparation has been good," Tuisamoa told FloRugby. "What I was most impressed with was that we avoided a slow start. We were able to put some points on the board. Our fullback, Mike Dillon, his kicking was great for us. Our forward pack finally put some pieces together. Our defense was much better from the previous week. We needed that."

Asked about those three tries, Tuisamoa shrugged off the question like a would-be tackler.
“Everyone contributed to the win,” Tuisamoa said. “We have a scrumhalf, Charlie Pardon, and he really sets the tone for us. Mike did a lot for us. I think he missed one kick. It was a good team win, and that's what's important."
