Life, Lindenwood Keep Winning
Recaps from the Mid-South Conference in D1A rugby.
Life University strengthened its stranglehold on the Mid-South with a 54-3 dismissal of Arkansas State in Jonesboro, AR, and Lindenwood was just as difficult in dealing with Davenport.
With those two results, Lindenwood and Life are on top of the Mid-South Conference, and the March 24 meeting of those two in St. Charles, MO will likely be the one that decides who wins the conference. Lindenwood lost to Life 22-18 LIVE on FloRugby on February 17.
In this week's games, Ryan Rees, Harley Wheeler, and Duncan Van Schalkwyk all got on the scoresheet as Life's defense clamped down on ASU and didn't let up.
Arkansas State head coach Blake White said that his young team is getting better.
"We showed some big improvements from our last match against these guys," said White. "We did a great job creating line breaks but just could not capitalize. We've got to learn to stay focused and trust the process. We will improve from this going forward."
But Life looked the part of a champion. So, too, did Lindenwood. A day after beating Lindenwood-Belleville, the Lions dispatched Davenport in impressive fashion to improve to 5-1. Lindenwood is in 1st thanks to having played one more conference game than Life.
