We could say things are heating up in college rugby, but they are actually closer to a boiling point. It's now time to make some major predictions for both the D1A and D1AA playoffs.

After weeks of whining by us, Grand Canyon University will make the D1A playoffs and, in fact, could be seeded ahead of Notre Dame College.

Either Cal Poly or San Diego State will make it but not both.

D1A Rugby has the right to move a team up or down a seed in order to get a more favorable matchup (such as avoid having teams play for the third time in a season or get an easier travel day), so don't be surprised to see Arizona at Colorado State and Grand Canyon at the Red River champion no matter what.

The seeds could still be blown up as late as April 7. Cal plays at Saint Mary's LIVE on FloRugby on that day, and a win by the visitors could easily vault the Bears to No. 1.

In D1AA, if Dartmouth wins the spring, then look for the Big Green to play Mary Washington in a neutral location near both of those schools, rather than clear across the country. But Dartmouth is going to have to get through Chico State or Western Washington first.
