The Can-Am Tournament in Saranac Lake, NY, is now in its 45th year and will have a new twist.

This year, along with some exciting club and over 35s rugby, there will be a Futures Tournament, with three USA U18 Boys teams and three USA U18 Girls teams playing with an eye toward getting picked for higher honors.

There will be teams dubbed Red, White, and Blue in each Futures bracket, with the boys Youth Olympic team being named right after the event.

On Sunday, July 29, FloRugby will show the finals of the Women's Division, Men's Over 35, and the Men's Premier Division, as well as the finals for the Boys Futures and Girls Futures.

"The over 35s often showcases the best rugby in the tournament," said John Morgan, the tournament's marketing and sponsorship coordinator. "You have a lot of really experienced players who are still fit, and they play the game with style."

Morgan said he is excited about the standard of competition in the men's and women's brackets but also said that the tournament is getting an injection of vitality with the Futures tournament.

"This is something we really want to get behind," Morgan said.

Certainly, this is an excellent venue to showcase young talent, especially as some will be turning around to play in the NAI 7s a week later. Then a lucky dozen will get to represent the USA at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in October.
