The USA South U19 program is coming off a brutal loss to Mexico and look to use elite sevens to develop their young core.

Coach Mark Williams has selected three teams and six coaches for the 2018 North American Invitational Sevens in Salt Lake City this weekend.

"Our goal was to pick a younger team to form our young core," said Williams. "In order to win elite tournaments like this you have to see it and get a feel for it first."

On the U18 Elite side, the Panthers have only one senior, so almost the entire roster will have two or more chances to play the NAI7s elite.

Players To Watch

David Ebert was selected to the All-Tournament team after an excellent performance at outside center in the 2018 RAN Championship. 

"He's a big, strong, physical kid and he could play in the back line but he'll prop for the elite side," said Williams.

Tennessee All-Star teammates Max Pleban and Isaiah Rademacher will be the scrumhalf to flyhalf combination of the future for USA South. 

"We want to get some good chemistry going between them," said Williams. 

Isaiah's brother Zach Rademacher is a USA South product and RAN Champion The elder Rademacher is playing for the Nationals qualified Denver Barbarians Men's 7s club. Watch out for Isaiah to make some highlight plays this weekend.

Ryan Bullock is another Tennessee product and will be the biggest player for the U18 Elite Side. 

"When you first look at him you'd think, 'He doesn't look like a sevens player,' but when you see him fly around you'll know," said Williams.

Defensive Demons

Coach Williams expects his team to do the little things right. In previous tournaments, the Panthers have been a few seconds behind other elite teams, but one aspect Williams expects his teams to get right is their defense. 

"We have to take advantage of our fast hitters," said Williams. "We're not going to be a home-run hitting team but we can get in the right defensive position and steal loose ball."
