RWC Game 8: Wales vs Georgia
Wales vs Georgia RWC match report
A torrent first-half display from Wales saw them handle Georgia, 43-14, on a humid Monday evening in City of Toyota, Japan.
The Georgians more than held their own in the contact area, but some brilliance from the Welsh backline made the difference, as they took advantage of their opportunities all night long.

What They're Saying
Alun Wyn Jones, Wales
On the game:
“We came out of the blocks as we wanted in the first half. We’re probably a bit disappointed with the second half, we left a couple of tries out there. The overall feeling is we took our foot off the gas a bit in the second half.
“It’s a good result, but there’s plenty to work on.”
On the support:
"It’s great to come to a stadium like this with a lot of Welsh fans, a lot of Japanese fans and a lot of Georgia fans. It makes the game a great occasion."
"Just come here a second....."

Beka Gorgadze, Georgia
On the game:
"We gave away too many points, so it was too late to bring the score up again. The score is unfortunate for us. We’ve got a lot to work on for the next games so we’re going to try to improve as much as possible."
On their improvement in the second half:
"After the first half, in the changing room, we said we had nothing to lose so we put everything into the first minutes (of the second half). It’s really good that we could score two tries. Now we’ve got to build on that and try to score as many tries as possible."
Warren Gatland, Wales head coach
On the game:
"It was a good first half and we were pretty happy at half-time. It was a little bit messy in the second half. The ball was quite slippy out there and it was hard to hold on to it. But we scored a few nice tries and we’re happy with the bonus point."
On using his replacements:
"Everyone got a run, which was nice. We’ve only got a six-day turnaround to the Australia game so we wanted to get some fresh legs on the field and get some of the others off, and hopefully they can recover as quickly as possible."
On the next game:
"Australia is going to be tough. It’s going to be a big game. We’ve got a couple of days off and then we’ll plan and have a couple of good days' training before the match."
