The tournament co-hosts, New Zeland, have not lost a major Rugby League tournament held in the Southern Hemisphere since the 2006 Tri-Series where they lost in Golden Point extra time. Coming in as the No. 2 seed, confidence is high in the Kiwi's camp.
Scotland, on the other hand, looks to build their Rugby League reputation. Entering the 2017 RLWC as the No. 4 seed they look to build on their 2016 Four Nations performance. This is the fourth consecutive RLWC appearance and could very well be the best chance to make a lasting impact in the tournament for the Scottish.
